Honestly... I love pocket watches! I think these are going to be on trend soon. I've seen the odd hipster
carrying one recently. Trust me, it won't be long till they're all over the fashion magazines.

Pocket watches have been a part of our culture for quite some time. Despite the development of cell phones and digital watches, there are still many people who prefer using a quality pocket watch. They can serve as a convenient alternative to checking your phone or simply a fashionable and sophisticated accessory. One thing that every pocket watch owner would agree on is that every good pocket watch needs a good pocket watch chain.

Pocket watches are sometimes sold with chains already attached and sometimes without. If you want to get the most out of your pocket watch, chains are a great investment due to the convenience they have to offer. Chains connect to the watch on one end and are secured to your clothing with the other. This allows the user to easily check their watch at any time and keeps them from misplacing it. Chains can also provide you with fashionable value, coming in different types and sizes to suit your desires.

Pocket watch chains are most commonly made from different types of metals to match watches and ensure durability. The three most common metals used are gold, silver, and brass. It goes without saying that gold and silver chains generally run at a more expensive price than brass. The brass chains are usually plated with gold and silver overlay to give the chain a more sophisticated look. Some people prefer investing in a purely gold or silver watch purely for the authentic value, but brass is always a great affordable alternative.

There are also three different styles of pocket watch chains that you can choose from. The sport chain style is one of the most widely used types of chains. There are clasps on each end, one attaches to the watch and the other fastens to some article of your clothing. The buttonhole style has a clasp on one end which attaches to the watch. The opposite end uses a bar that threads through a buttonhole and twists to secure the watch. Finally there is the Albert style, which is a lot like the buttonhole with an additional chain attached. There is a clasp on the end of the side chain that allows you to attach any desired accessory.

You may be surprised at how long we have been using pocket watches. Since the turn of the 16th century when Peter Henlein created the first portable watch mechanism, people have been developing and wearing pocket watches. Initially, the chains were used quite differently. People would usually attach the watches to a necklace around their necks.

After people began to realize how useful the modern pocket watch chain design was, it became widely popular. As pocket watches developed through the years, the mechanisms and design has continually developed. The chain however, has stood the test of time and has remained the same for centuries. A good chain is a wise investment and seemingly necessary compliment to a good pocket watch wether you are looking for convenience, fashion, or security for your watch. With a variety of styles, materials, and lengths, chances are there is some sort of chain that fits your interests.

It’s taken me a long time to arrive here. I can’t quite believe that I didn’t discover this sooner. Up until last year I’d always carried my cash in a wallet. Occasionally I would use my (beautiful) rag & bone leather card holder. I hadn’t however tried a money clip. That was until I was bought one as a gift for my birthday last year. It’s completely changed the way I carry my cash and has stopped me from taking things out that I never use. I can’t believe the amount of cards that I used to carry round with me and never used. My old wallet was enormous! Take a look below at my three devices for carrying money and cards. It’s incredible to think that this small money clip can fit everything I need.

The money clip that was bought for me is made by M-Clip, an American company. After doing a bit of Googling, turns out that this is one of the best money clips around. They also produce some other cool stuff, like cufflinks and keychains. M-Clip has a really nice distinctive style and I’m very fond of the aesthetic of their products. They all look like quality pieces of jewelry that have been crafted and constructed to a high standard. I can’t remember the last time I had a product that I like so much. It’s made a big difference to me. It works like a dream and looks awesome. I will never go back to my wallet. It seems so big, heavy and completely unnecessary. It’s all about traveling light these days and that should apply to the wallet as well.

My money clip has a capacity of about 10 bills and up to 8 credits. I’ve never needed to or wanted to carry anywhere near 8 credits cards in it though! I usually take only two cards out and think the most I’ve ever carried in it is four. I suppose it’s nice for those people who may need to carry extra cards though – knowing that the capacity is there. I even came across an XL M-Clip, which has an ever bigger capacity. It’s based on the same design and looks almost identical but just a bit deeper.

What I love the most about my money clip is the way it closes and grips the currency. It’s designed with two sliding levers. You slide those up and then press them, that opens the clip and allows you to place your cash inside – it grips them nice and tightly. You then slide the levers back down and it closes the whole thing. Take a look at the video to see for yourself!

So my new found fascination with money clips resulted in me doing some research into these wonderful little devices! I started looking to try and find out what the best money clip is. Turns out that this is very much open to debate and personal preference. Some people prefer a money clip card holder and others use the slimmest money clip they can find. Some of my personal favorites include: the paper clip money clip (a giant paper clip to store money in), Bosca’s Old Leather Money Clip, the Swiss Army Money Clip and Tumi’s Monaco Money Clip Card Case. There are so many more that I could list but they’re the top money clips for me, based on appearance and style. Of course, I haven’t used any of these so make sure you read up about them first if you’re going to buy one. There are plenty of reviews on Amazon so you can decide for yourself.

I used to think keychains were quite tacky but they've grown on me recently. Here's why... there aren't many accessories out there that are as versatile as the keychain. There has been a seemingly endless amount of customizations that have established this accessory as one of the most customizable and useful ones available. It usually consists of a small chain, most commonly some form of durable metal, that connects an accessory to a key ring. They let you express yourself by adding a unique touch to your keys and can prove to be a useful utility as well.

Keychains have been dangling from peoples keys for a fairly long time. It wasn't until the 50's (musical treat below) and 60's however, that they began to become more popular. Innovations in the way that plastics could be manufactured made wide scale production of the chains much easier. They could also make new unique forms of chains that were much more useful and personalized.

Since many people use their keys on a daily basis and regard them with a high level of importance, they like to use this accessory to make their key set more unique. Small figurines, name plates, and useful gadgets are just a few of the many different forms this accessory can take on. There are a wide variety of uses and styles of chains they make that you can easily attach to your keys.

First off is the souvenir type keychain. This style is the most common and prevalent key accessory in circulation. People make them to commemorate a particular area or event. Popular vacation spots like famous beaches and theme parks as well as events like concerts and festivals have a variety of chain designs sporting their name.

Another popular style is advertising chains. Different companies like making these chains to spread their influence and promote their brand. These chains can be made for virtually any company that wants to promote their product. People that are fond of the product can buy one of these and display it on their key ring.

One of the more interesting types of chains is the utility style. These chains actually yield potential usefulness through the use of tools and other gadgets. Some popular examples are flashlights, knives, bottle openers, tape measures, and even small USB flash drives.

With developments in smaller technology and designs, the entertainment style is growing increasingly popular. This type of chain will commonly use some form of electronics to provide someone with entertainment value. They could be a laser pointer, a flashy light show, or even a small electronic video game.

The materials that keychains can be made with are virtually endless. They can utilize any form of durable material to craft a unique item to hang from a set of keys. More simple designs use metals like aluminum, gold, silver, and brass and usually have some form of writing engraved or plated on to them. Fabrics like leather and hemp can be used to make some form of strap to hang from keys. The most popular material used in them is plastic. Plastic offers a good deal of customized potential and is relatively an inexpensive investment.
